If you’ve ever been to Vegas, one of the first things you notice, amongst many other things, is the power behind the slot machines. Mesmerizing and entrancing, their dopamine filled frequencies emanate a, dare I say, beautiful hum that attracts the player like a moth to a light. Because I’m so bad at gambling I don’t find playing these machines to be very enjoyable but I did find the sounds coming from these machines to be very interesting. Using my phone, I proceeded to record the sounds of these monuments of capitalism we call casinos, to capture the sonic power of the slot machines, and try my best to turn that power into a positive musical experience. The name of the piece is called Quantum Success Coaching Academy, a name suggested to me by my own phone in the Voice Memos app after recording the slot machines, as I must have been near something called Quantum Success Coaching Academy.
